Well here is the deal. With my tax refunds it's time to do something in the GTO. I already have a full system from my totaled Camaro (CDA-9833, BA 3-way Pros, 2 12" Type X's, 2 MRD-M1005's & 1 MRV-F545)... decent system but looking for more.

I've got it down to 2 12" IDMAX's (on backorder) or 2 12" SI Mags. It'll take 2-4 weeks to get the ID's, or I could get the Mags which will cost $100-200 more (depending how well I get hooked up on the ID's).

Next is should I reuse my Alpine amps or sell them and go with a Zapco REF1100.1 for the subs and a Zapco REF1000.4. I could get the full 1000WRMS out of the amps for the ID's, but only 500WRMS for the Mags.

I'm reusing the HU for now, selling the BA 3-way Pros for some BA Z6's since I don't want to cut up this car. Going for mostly SQ here and saving $$$ is good but I only want to do this system once. Plus I still need money for sound deadening and gears for the car to make up for the weight //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

i'd keep the amps and wait for the id's....if you're only doing this 1 time the 2-4 weeks should be worth it for id's...lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

order now!!!!!!! everyday you wait is 1 day later ya get em

Completely off topic but I gotta say....nice ride! Aussie-built GM products FTW! (I've been to the plant in South Australia where they are built //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif)

Iraggi prolly sells an H.O. alternator for your car, you are right, you are going to need it!!
Yeah I didn't want to go big on this system... but I know if I don't I'll be redoing it within 6 months.

Thanks, I'll say this if the car was built by Pontiac I wouldn't have bought it. One day I'll have to go to Australia //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It seems even with going with the Zapco amps I will most likely need an alt upgrade. I don't know what the stock one is... 140 or 160, I doubt it can power all the electronics and a 1600-2000WRMS system. Which I was trying to get away from with using different amps... so I might as well use my old amps (which I really liked anyways) and put that money to a new alt.

Am I correct in thinking the displacement for a 12" Mag is 2.304 liters and the displacement for a 12" IDMAX is 2.6814 liters? If so I see no real reason to pay the extra $$$ for a Mag. Also should I run an MRD-M1005 to each sub or could I get away with just using one for both?
