what would u do?

I am almost in the same situation as you. My parents were like why would you spend all that money on your car. I am now really into it and they see I like it, my Dad even got a little into it and helped me build a box and figure out how to get the panels off my car.

Once they saw how interested I was they realized they just didn't understand, a good way to get them off my back was to save some money each week as well (Glad I did and still am)

My parents were against it first, but after the a while they realized that it was something I enjoyed and was going to do either way.

Someone said save your money and buy high-end shit to begin with, do that! It will save you more in the long run.

At the rate you're going you'll make less than $2,500 this entire summer assuming you have been working since school got out. That's not very much. You'll be spending at LEAST half of that for a solid system.

If I were you, I would get a better job before I started spending it on car audio. But hey, if your parents pay for everything else, I don't see why not.

Make sure you keep college costs in mind.

When I say "A box' I really mean 3 boxes, one for my 12 inch CVR, one after I upgraded to my 15 inch SSD, another after I screwed up the measurements for the first and it did not fit into my car.

Perfect.

As long as your parents pay for your car, maintenance and repairs, insurance, property taxes, books, major living expenses, phone, and remaining 25% tuition, then why the hell do you have to worry about saving money? BLOW IT ALL WHILE YOU CAN!!!

And yes, there are much better jobs than a grocery stocker... lawl.

$3,500 is a lot? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Anyway, Just start working on your system one part at a time. Really get into it. Show your dad what you're doing. Spend a lot of time on doing the installs yourself and educating yourself on the subject. After a while, I'll bet that he'll think it's pretty cool, too.

My dad didn't like it at first either, but I showed him that I have the cashflow/savings to be able to pay for a system while putting myself through college and pay for most of my own living expenses along with the costs of owning a vehicle. Then he changed his mind. That's how I got his approval //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Where in Florida are you?

Tell him that it's better than you running the streets getting in trouble. I don't have many friends (seriously like 2-3), so all I do is work and play around with my car. $200 a week is decent pay for your age. I'm 17, and work for my parent's company.

Spend it while you have it, or hold onto it. I wish my parents paid for everything. I have to pay insurance, car maintenance, all that. Must be nice not to have to pay for anything buy gas.
