What were someof your n00b misconceptions?

I almost bought two pyle 12's in a bandpass for my room (3 years ago)... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

lol, excursion, ability, long timd, ha, hahaha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
I can't really remember one of mine. Hrmmmmm, I did not knwo the proper function of the gain for a long time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
x2...i thought gain was a volume knob //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

oh, i also thought that audiobahn COULDNT be as bad as ppl made tnem out to be....that was a mistake lol

I ran a X1044 (10 inch Xtant-Hex) and a a1202 (12 inch Xtant round) in the same box that i made....(Seperate chambers) cut from a jigsaw.

and i thought that sounded awesome.

little did i know.

I thought that a vioce coil on a sub is where the voice sounds came from, and that voice was supposed to come from the subs.

I thought that trunk rattle was *Power Proof* - the more rattles, the more proof

I thought that u could run subs freeair (all subs, but they sounded better in a box)

I thought ......forget it.

I am remembering all this crap that makes me feel foolish in the now....

lawl

I used to think Americans were nice, smart people...
**** was I wrong!!!
Thanks for confirming my wife's claim that almost all Aussie men are rude, childish bastards...

I once thought that the pair of Kicker Comp 12s in Kicker prefab truck boxes (with the Motorola horn tweeter on top for those that can remember any of Kicker's gear from '91) was the most awesome bass I had ever heard.

Pffft..... @ that!

I thought that 6x9 boxes were an essential piece of audio equipment.

I had no idea of resistance and was constantly curious why my 2-ohm stable amp would cut out on deep bass.Twas wired at one ohm.

that subs/amps with lower ohm ratings had better sq....

yeahhhhhhhhh.
MTX apparently believes different ohm ratings change the sound of a sub..

"The JackHammer SuperWoofer represents excess in every way and this enormous subwoofer lives for high SPL and window shattering bass. But, the T9922 is designed for sonic quality, and high SPL, what we call SQL. JackHammers are shipped in either the SPL mode, with dual 2Ω voice coils, or as the SQL model with dual 4Ω voice coils. A replaceable cone assembly is also available, for switching between "every day" listening (SQL), and competition (SPL). "

Apparently thats why i dont buy MTX equipment...

Well...some of MY misconceptions...

that my 6.5s sounded good on my sony HU's internal amp....

That bazooka was pretty good for the price... till i blew em up on a 3 hour road trip.

I also thought that ported boxes were the end of all boxes... no questions asked, now im a strictly sealed guy... i like my sq and drum kicks.

I thought that 8 AWG wire would sustain my old alpine amp (an MRV-T757), which it didnt, and didnt bother with upgrading it when i got my MRV-1507... thinking that itll "limit its current draw" which i thought would save my alty and battery from uberdeath... which it didnt.

I thought that sony's speakers "werent that bad for the price".... well between louisiana sun, and my subs... yeah those cones didnt stand a chance.

And yes, i did have an audiobahn sub at one point... but i pawned it off on my "friend" and used that money to help fund my memphis subs... lawls.

i tried to tune the gain on a subwoofer amp once by ear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

with a NCH tone generator... which is suppose to be 0db but turns out it is actually -12dB...

i now use adobe audition for all my audio creation/editing needs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
