Whoa.. Never thought about using nuts.. you sir are a genius! I'm gonna try that.. Like, right now actually. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif!Stripped holes sucks. I'm going to have to put another baffle on my box because it would cost a fortune to replace. I would use t-nuts but they wont work on my box.
Yeah it's a bit hard when box is bolted down to trunk and I have to remove battery and amp to get the box out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Sub weighs quite a bit and was mounted inverted so when I'm building a new box in like a day or two I don't see it worth the trouble. It still stays in place, it's not like when the bass drops the sub pops out of the box, the last like 1/4" or so of the holes are still threaded for some reason, so the screw kinda holds. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gifwould it be too hard to turn the sub and make new holes...
silicone old holes
Yeah man actually I think I'm going to, thanks a lot for the suggestion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.Put t-nuts on your new box as well. that way no worries when you want to sub swap, Or re tightening them every so often. A lot of people forget to check that and are leaking air and warping baskets when they don't know it. With t-nuts cinch away.
and actually I've already done that once, so by doing it again I fear the new holes would be too close to the old two sets of holes.Nobody is that smart on this forum:crazy://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Do you recommend anything else to mount them then besides tradition screw through baffle? When I build this final box, it's gonna be too big to remove, it'll be built in the trunk, so it won't be so easy to add on baffles or drill out new holes. Any suggestions or a certain type of screw that tends to hold up better in MDF?i wouldn't use t-nuts. i've heard horror stories.
