I'm picking up a single 12" Type-R with Dual 2 ohm voice coils that will be pushed with 600 RMS watts by taking my mono amp to a 1 ohm load ...

Due to space limitations I'm going for a 1 Cube Volume vented box ...

What would be the best Frequency to Tune this box to ???

I listen to everything from Country, Rock, R&B, Jazz, etc ...

Should I shoot for high 30's or mid to low 40's ?

Thanks,

TIM

with 1 cube, you might just want to go sealed buddy.!
Thanks Chevy ...

If this small box will not gain from being vented, I don't have a problem going sealed.

I've just seen where several people didn't really like the sound of this sub in a sealed box ...

You only need 2cubes to do it ported and it should get way louder, though sealed is a viable option.

Do you already have the sub? we might be able to recomend something that might perform more optimally in 1 cube sealed.

Yo civic96 that is a pretty big generality and I disagree strongly. Not all subs like 1.7 ported anly a few woudl actually perform optimally in 1.7.

If you have personal experience with type R in 1.7 then great.

No, I don't have the sub ...

If there is another dual voice 2 ohm x 2 ohm sub out there in 10" or 12" that can come in close to the Alpine in dollars but performs better in a 1 cube box ... yes, please point me in that direction. That would be great ...

Though DBfan187 has a valid point there, that is gonna give pretty flat frequency response in that enclosure. on paper anyways.

Dual 2 that is at least 600rms. I think that the output will be satisfactory with the type R.

anyone else?

I will get back to you soon.

and in reality it doesnt. or in my truck at least. nothing close to a flat response in that size sealed.

Like I said on paper it looks good, real world experience has shown otherwise.

I woudl look at JL W3 12" under $200 its 500 rms and dual 2 VC.

Mach 5 audio maw 12 has less power handling at 350 rms and only comes in dual 4 ohm. its $119 though at 2 ohms your amp and sub might be happy.

At 2 ohms your amp might make enough power to keep this woofer happy.

Kicker CVR dual 2 ohm and 600 rms.

I believe that the kicker is the best all around sub for your installation.
