What to expect?

It's not like HS where your past achievements are recognized.

College atleast in my experience is more about what you can show/prove rather than your coursework.

If you could bring it to the table in a classroom, the fact that you made a mistake on a test isn't going to bring you down.

Also be prepared to spend a lot of nights up late doing projects, papers, etc.

I have spent the night at the library building models. It takes dedication to do well. But you can half-*** and pass if your only goal is getting a piece of paper/

dont get lazy in college. . its all on you and no 1 cares wtf u do. if u dont do your shit no 1 cares. its that much easier to fail. and sounds like you already have bad habits.

A lot of people like to talk crap about me whenever I post up anything that has a meaning to me... but I'll go ahead and say what's on my mind...

I was a straight A student. This year (Junior year) I learned how easy it is to skip school, not get punished. I've had a car, been able to leave with ease. I sometimes get makeup work and save myself. Whenever I say I'm going to go the whole day at school, I send my mom an AIM and she faxes the school and I sign out. She rather have me at work then at school, which is hurting me.

I failed English, Math and Chemistry last semester. I begged for online classes, where they take out your F and replace it with your online grade, which is my chance to save me. However, I've been just skipping school, working, and spending the extra money on paying people to do my homework.

I don't know what to do... I have to go to college, it's been my lifetime goal.. and it seems like it's right around the corner.

That penny-ante BS your mom is paying you is not going to make up for the lack of money lose by throwing away your opportunity.

And your HS has online classes? Did I read that correctly?

I know it's not, that's what I'm worried about. My parents are divorced... my mom is the easy one, I can convince her to sign me out/let me stay home, I wish I couldn't. My dad would beat the shit out of me.

http://www.flvs.net - Florida Virtual School... if my parent and guidance counselor at school approve, I can take any class I want online. Grade Forgiveness is the name of the program where if you get a D or and F, you retake the semester(s) online and they will remove it and replace it with the online grade

The first thing is you need a solid plan. Something small that is easily within your control. Next, find a way to meet that plan and stick with it.

I want to build a derivavtive fund. I work a second job to provide the working capital to do it. Of course I hate working weekends while my friends are at cookouts and BBQs and such. But I have a goal that is all mine and the only person that will make or break me is myself.

Are you sure it actually REPLACES it on your transcripts, or just in figuring your GPA. Colleges wont see the grade at all?

If you aren't ready for college then take a fews years off and work. Its better to start a few years later, than go right away and **** your transcripts and GPA up (thats what i initially did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif ).

Nothing makes you realize how important school is like a few years of having to work some crappy jobs barely making ends meet.

I got pwned in the fucking *** my first semester of college. Im JUST now starting to pull my shit together halfway through my second semester. Its nothing like Highschool and I took IB and AP classes. I constantly finding myself doing work from 10am till 2am near the end of midterms and exams.

Overall, College was a swift kick to the balls for me.

I like college a lot better than high school..I have way more free time myself..

The majority of my tests come STRAIGHT from the notes given..I like that.. In high school I had teachers who would give stuff on the test that wasn't in the notes.. You have less tests, so your tests are more important to do good on..

The worst part to me is writing papers..I hate having to write 5 papers in each English Comp class..

you are gonna get eaten alive in college. i did nothing in high school and managed to be an honor student but come college, you'll have to study and put effort into class, and it is much harder to make up classes in college then high school. your class meets twice a week generally at most so there is a lot of info in each class.

x2 on a lot of info in class... Its nonstop notes and lecture in every class pretty much.. In chemistry II, our teacher will go over 12 pages of powerpoint notes with 4 slides of page..and that is in 1 hour and 15 minutes...

And it is a good idea to take notes in english classes when discussing stories..they come in handy when writing the papers
