Hey guys. New to the forums. I just ordered some stuff to upgrade my system.
My initial set up
JL Audio wov3 12 inch in it's JL basswedge box that it came with.
Rockford fosgate r500x1 300 watts rms at 4 ohms is what I'm running it at.
I just ordered Sundown Audio SA 12 with a mono hifonics amp that pushes it at 800 watts rms 2 ohms. Initially I plan to put the sundown in the jl box. I'm assuming that the box is around 1.75 cubic which is right in the middle of what the SA is recommended at. Now I don't have the time, knowledge, or cash to purchase a custom box so my best bet is a prefab box even though I see everyone hating on them. I don't have the money. Probably next week I'm buying a sound ordinance bass bunker, it's a ported box that's around 1.8 something cubic and tuned to 36 hertz I think. It's made by crutchfield and the box has over 70 reviews at 5 stars. So I'm thinking that's probably the best pre fab box that I can get for 70 bucks.
How much of an increase would I expect in bass and boom. I've upgraded all my speakers and have a jvc double din head unit that pushes 22 watts rms to the speakers so my front end is capable of playing well with the setup. Will the SA 12 blow me away? I've heard amazing reviews and heard they outperform any sub that's close to it's price range and even more. Made a mistake in buying only what crutchfield has, I just thought JL was the best brand but paying 250 for the jl sub and box that I my runs 300 watts rms is kind of ridiculous.
To the SA 12 owners, how is it? Does it bump as people say it does? I've read reviews and they say it hits harder then their previous 2 12s and even 15s.
Please no hate, I'm just trying to get what I can afford, and I can't afford or make a custom box
