what to do....

I like tens myself:D... by the way what kind of truck you have??I have seen some downfire boxes that are 1 1/2 mdf sealed, and some ported. You may be able to raise the seat up too??/option??So x-cab/single/double??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/awesome.gif.4430a219d9aaaa6cadc75e9290979dfb.gif

OHH missed it reg cab...yet you can still raise the seat approx 2-3in to get a normal sized sub under there??May be worth looking in to/measuring??//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I forgot to mention I too have a regular cab truck. My SA-8 fits pretty nicely behind the left passenger seat. The seat cannot go all the way back but it goes back farther than some other regular cab setups I have seen.

Thought i'd drop in and give everyone an update...I got an SA-8 and a Rockford Fosgate P500-1bd for Christmas. I'm swapping the bench seat in my truck out for a split seat to give me the extra room for the box on the passenger side, I did some digging and eventually decided on .8 cu ft total with a 17 inch long and 3 inch diameter port, should bring tuning to around 35 hz.

If anyone sees a problem in my math now would be the time to say something because i went to several sites and figured this to be a good place to start

I'm sure no matter how it turns out it should sound better than what i have in there now.

Thanks to all the guys on here for the help

I didnt check the math but with that set-up and tuning it should sound great //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have a dodge reg cab and i went with an obsidian 12. Now were having issues properly placing the port with the space i have. Thinkin maybe a 10 or 8 would of been better

Yea, i had the same problem, instead of having the sub in the middle of the front panel it's actually a few inches up from the bottom and the port is a 1/2 inch from the top of the box and it fires toward the center of the truck.

So tonight I was crazy enough to go outside and put my Christmas presents in my truck. It sounds good but doesn't seem to be as sharp as my other stuff was, I haven't really listened to it much though...just enough to tell I had to turn the gain down due to the infamous light dims and then ran inside to warm up.

If its a brand new sub give it some playing time to loosen the suspension up. Also could have just been that everything was cold. I never crank my stuff until its warm enough to take my coat off in my truck

Thanks alot guys, it was an awesome choice.

And you may have been right about it being a little chilly, because it definitely sounded alot better today... man do those things move...alot. Now i just want to get it behind the seat to get my daily back massage. lol

lol yea ive loved that in my previous JBL P1022 in my single cab. Where starting the box on my obsidian 12 this week, going to need mdf and 2 gallons of fiberglass to make it smooth and the weird shape it needs to be to go behind both seats and still recline. Its a hassle but it should be loud as balls, ill have a build log up next few days

Hey guys, another update is in store I guess. To this day I'm still impressed with the sound that this "little" sub pumps out. The only thing that I've changed is the internal volume of the box. The 500 watts was just too much for the sub in .8 cubes, so now the box is down to roughly .65 cubes and it not only sounds better lower but it's alot more responsive. So one of my projects this summer will be building a new box or I'll just get the local guy to build me a box. I could build the box myself but I'm thinking a slot port this time, for space's sake, and it's a little more difficult to assemble than using a piece of pvc for the port. lol
