What to do?

I recently bought a Diamond D61000.1 amp from hifisound. I know they dont have a great rep, but darn good prices. Anyways, the amp works fine for my setup but one of the outputs doesnt work. Its a mono-amp with 2 sets of outputs. I contacted them, and they gave me a RA number for a return but they dont have any in stock. The Hifi rep i talked to said DA isnt making them anymore or they could possibly be on backorder.

I could possibly have the option of a refund, but i would have to pay more for another d61000 from another vendor. The good thing about this is i would buy from an authorized vendor to relieve this problem in the future.

Or

I could keep this one since it works fine for my app, but limits my options in the future.

I emailed DA to see if they could repair\replace it even though i bought it from a second hand vendor.

My biggest concern is that i paid 300+ plus for an amp that only one output works and most likely wont be replaced for a while....until they get another.

Has anyone encountered this situation? What are my best options to pursue this?

There are no authorized online vendors for DAT equipment. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

If HiFiSoundConnection doesn't have any more of them the odds are they won't get anymore as that model has been discontinued.

Do you need that second set of outputs to work or can you attach all the necessary wiring to the one set that works? Though since those outputs are fed from the same source I find it very strange that one would work and the other wouldn't...

im only running 1 12. So realistically i only need 1 output even if i decide to upgrade to 2 subs. I just dont like knowin my shit is busted. I have thought about possibly opening it up to look. From what i understand, the outputs are all on the same plate/terminal ( +/+ -\-), so im thinking maybe a broke wire/solder joint. I am fairly knowledgable when it comes to soldering/cca repair so i think i could repair it myself depending on what the problem is.

I guess ill open it up tomorrow and see what i can find. It just pisses me off that they give a 1 year warranty or something from Hifisound, but cant fix/replace my shit.

Heres an update. I emailed hifi again with some more information.

He basically told me that my refund claim has to be within 14 days of purchase. I didnt receive the amp until 9 days after purchase. Since i was still waiting on the rest of my order, i was unable to test the amp myself.

I called DA since hifi says they are DA authorized vendors and they want to charge me 150 bucks to repair it. I realize now that DA doesnt authorize online sales, but hifis website say otherwise.

Im in a pickle. Hifi threatened if i left neg feedback, they wouldnt help me. I cant file a dispute since its 45 days after purchase. Realistically, they aint doing shit to help anyways.

I emailed paypal and going to see if i can go about it another way since the shipping was so slow, and they take FOREVER to respond to emails.

Its looking like ive been ripped off, and will have to deal with it most likely.

Kinda shitty, that i paid 350 for the amp, and will have to spend another 150 to get it repaired.

Lesson learned, always buy from authorized vendors even though it is more money. DOnt deal with hifisoundconnection.com!
