oh yeah a big one... either get a bed lofting kit, or get some spacers to raise ur bed height about 8 inches, or more if possible. the extra room it gives u = priceless

The sub and loud speakers is a bad idea, you can get written up, fined and even put on disciplinary probation for stuff like that.

i had some really big mirage tower speakers last year, 12" woofers with mids and highs too, put 80wrms to each from my onkyo receiver, and it was LOUDD. I definitely had some fun with it. nothing was ever said to me but maybe I was lucky.

Yea, definitely not true at all schools. Although I did get some within the first 2 weeks I was in college, but since then its been a total dry spell.

On a more serious note, you'll want to bring:

-if you plan on smoking, definitely a fan...but you never knew when the A/C would get turned off in my dorm so a good fan is important anways

And you'll definitely want stuff to decorate your room. It seemed like the most miserable and unhappy people my freshman year were the ones who lived in the most boring and bland rooms.

Didn't ever happen to me, but I did play it **** loud at times and was warned, never anything big though. Our community baths were actually very nice, cleaned everyday, plus the dorm I was in was just done being renovated so it was basically new. I also hate you fo having had AC in your dorms.

I was also thinking about bringing my poker chips / table and try and get a game going once a week or something like that, but is that some shit that would get my kicked out lol? Im assuming gambling on campus isn't exactly supported.

I really wouldnt mind a BA system but all my money is going into my car audio system, the 6 hour drive is my justification for this... Right now Ill jus bring the shitty wal mart stereo I have itll do me fine.

Then about the other going to college thread, I kinda wanted to get my own cuz Lubbocks a lil different and I just wanted my own lol...

We had a weekly poker game in my dorm, $5 buy in, texas hold em and sometimes Omaha.

And Bose301, the AC was the ONLY benefit to living in the dorms I had freshman semester over living in the park. They were small, old as hell, nasty, dirty, and the A/C only worked about half the time. I'm sure there is atleast 1 other person on here who has seen the Clemson Shoeboxes and can verify all this.

Yea, our dorms were decent since they were renovated but we hit 90+ a bunch of times my freshman year and it was hot as hell in there. Its one of the largest dorms in the country just as an FYI

depending on your dorm layout, you may wanna bring a 2x12 board for making a shelf (we put it across the top of the desks in my dorm). Makes for a good t.v/microwave/book shelf.

lock box for impotant papers

basic tool set (screw drivers, wrenches, flash light etc etc) (good for putting stuff together/fixing stuff you break)

febreze/lysol, some other kind of smell good stuff. (girls don't wanna walk into a shlt smelled room)

shower caddy

some kids on my floor brought their own toilet paper cause our school was cheap

some kind of broom, vac.

area rug (good for getting up in the a.m. and not stepping on cold floors)

house shoes (good for running out to your truck or down the hall)

ibuprofen (hangovers, head aches, etc etc), I brought some benadryl for when I couldn't sleep cause i eff'd up my sleep pattern.

x2 on first aid kit.

I brought my crappy walmart surroud sound system and it did fine in a dorm. You don't want an awesome setup getting knocked over or broken by some drunk idiot.

paper towels. (I had to run to the bathroom to get paper towels for when I ate in my room until I bought some), paper plates, cups.

surge protector, extension cords (I had dvd/vcr, computer, printer, scanner, tv, surround sound, ps2 and x-box, cell phone charger and a fan all of like 4 outlets. Was probably a fire hazard but oh well. My room only had 2 outlets so these were a MUST.

Hot plates are good but were against the rules in my dorm. They tell you when room inspections are so you could just hide it. Plus they didn't really check your room. Just your fridge and desk drawers.

laundry hamper.

some kind of chair/small couch so when you have friends in your room everyone not sittin on your bed. (we just took a metal 2 person couch out of the lobby one late night when the dorm moms were sleeping, then put it in the bathroom when we had inspections.

alarm clock!!

tape for hangin up pics/posters (tape may not be allowed, use that sticky putty stuff.

laundry detergent

hand sanitizer.

Dud, your in Texas, the dorm should stay mid 60s all year, warm in my book.
