What thickness plexiglass shoud i use?

I would like to build a box for my audiobahn 1200 eu speaker. I plan on using plexiglass on the sides of the box. What thickness glass should i use? 1/2 or 3/4. Also I would like to cover the inside of the box with white firmica. Is this ok to use?
