Stevie Ray Vaughan died this day, Aug. 27, 1990 after a concert in Iowa where he had opened for Eric Clapton the night before. Clapton said, "There was no one better on the planet. I was embarrassed having to follow him". This rendition of Voodoo Chile is a masterpiece -

Never gets old. I like to drop the speed to 90% on playback for that one.

Guy was something else.

A year after his death, I saw his opening band (from that last concert) playing in a small bar. They were really good, but their career stalled right after that great gig.
