What sizes to get...?

I currently have a (yuck I know...) Kenwood deck... Don't have the model on hand...

I have Infinity Reference 6020cs components in all four doors

I have an Infinity Reference 5350A (5-Channel) Amp powering all four doors and two subs in the trunk... Just some cheap-o Audiobahn's until I get rid of them.

I am actually now having a lot of trouble with my system because a friend screwed lots of stuff up when I let him take one of my amps out...

Anywho... The speakers always sound amazing... But the sub range sucks...

I want to get another amp to power another sub or two in the trunk... I'm probably going to have to redo the power cable from the battery etc. etc. which is fine... I'm getting that whistling noise in the speakers when I accelerate now due to a crappy tape job where an old fuse holder used to be under the hood...

The car is a 95 Lexus GS300 so there's not too much trunk room but I was wondering what sub sizes would fit me best...

I currently have a 10" dual coil and a 12" dual coil Audiobahn something something but want to trash them and upgrade... I don't blast my music too loud... I'm not trying to piss people off on the road but I do want loud, rich and clear audio.

I love full, tight bass that can also hit the lows that my current 12 is struggling on... I don't need some massive 18" but I was thinking about a 15...

Can I get a good 15" (not competition quality... but... decent) that can hit the range that maybe an 8" can handle? I love all kinds of music and that 10 and 12 that I have now aren't hitting the super high bass notes...

Would it be stupid for me to have a 15, 12, 10, and an 8? Again, I'm not blasting music THAT loud, I just want a nice full-range of clarity.

I listen to everything from heavy metal, to techno, r&b, country, and whatever else... I want tight bass that can hit the double kickers in heavy metal without sounding like a blob of overwhelming bass, but when I turn on my r&b, I want to hit that rolling, low bass.

I understand I'll need another batt in the trunk along with new wiring... I'm only on a 5 guage to my battery right now.

I'm not Bill Gates but I'm not affraid to spend a little.

If somebody can help with any of this, it would be great.

Also... If I were to get crazy and get a 15, 12, 10, and 8" sub, would the amp handle the power effectively? Would I have one amp for the 15 and 12 tying each sub to either the LEFT or RIGHT channel (for a 2 channel amp) or would I put them both of the same channel on a mono amp? If I did do that... I'm not sure the best way to hook them up... I wouldn't want to hook up a 15" that sucks up more juice to overpower a 12" and have the high's stronger than the lows or vice versa... I want all of the bass to be as close to the same volume as possible...

If any of this sounds confusing just tell me and I'll try to clarify this rambling...

Thank you in advance to whoever can help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I actually have some buddy's who live up near sac...they're in or around Roseville...One of them is selling a 15" TC2000 and two 12" Eternals...They could prob do a deal that would include a box to specs if you are interested...let me know okay

may or may not be true(verification please), but i have read that mixing driver sizes can cause cancelation...try taking one of the subs out of the equation and put the other one in a 'to-spec' enclosure

forget about all the different sizes, 1 12" should do the trick, I always liked sealed since they are typically smaller enclosures and leaves the valuable trunk room. Plus the right driver will hit low and tight. If you are not concerned with trunk room get 2 or put the one in a ported enclosure.

You dont need a new amp. Get a 12" Type R Dual 4ohm and run it at 2 ohms into your amp which is rated at 300@2ohms for that 5th channel. box and speaker should be less than 400.

If you're looking for one sub to play all the different types of music like that and get decently loud doing it, I'd look into the 12"/15" SI Mag. I used to run the 15" in my civic and I really miss it. Plays tight upper bass kickdrums and at the same time, moves enough air to do an incy wincy hair trick lol. Mag is my vote fo' sho. Give it right around 1k rms in a 3.5 cu^ box tuned around 30hz and she will please your every audio nerve.

Thanks for all of your replies... I took out the second amp (piece of crap I traded my friend so he could have my other one)... I have both subs on the 5th channel of that amp like I said... It's not hitting the lows that I want and it sounds really blurry... Box the 10 and 12 are in sealed enclosures... I actually hate Kenwood now... I had a surround sound receiver that would always turn itself off if you turned it past like 3 volume... And the deck I got had an iPod logo on the front so I figured it would have either USB or AUX inputs right?... NOPE! It has the logo on there for NO reason what-so-ever...

Anyways... If you guys think a 12 will hit the lows I'm talking about... How can I tell how low it will hit without hearing it in person? The frequency response on most of the subs looks the same...

Also... Can somebody tell me if a 15 can hit the high notes like an 8 can? I want that full range... if it means getting a 15, I'll get one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Again... I'm not trying to wake people up so volume isn't my need... I just want a full-range of tight bass... The bass I have right now sounds so blurry and muffled and doesn't hit tight. I want tight bass that can get deep and roll when needed, but can hit hard and sharp for the heavy metal double kickers.

I'm thinking the amp I have right now will do the job because I don't need a billion watts to pump volume... I just want that full-range sound.

Thanks again for all of your help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
