What parameters do I need to choose a sub for bandpass?

I have no idea of which type of sub would be good for an enclosure. What do I look for as I know some subs are better for sealed and/or ported boxes.

I want to buy a 10 inch sub and put it in a bandpass box.

If he doesn't have reason as to why he wants a bandpass setup, chances are that a bandpass isn't really what he wants.
