what kind of wood

ok I have been looking at near by stores for MDF and they do not carry it, the closest menards or lowes is about 30 miles+ away and you know how gas is, so I am looking into other options, what else(more common) would work just as well as MDF for making a box

how big of a box? For smaller boxes, i've used particle board or subflooring before and it worked just fine. Most people here will tell you to stay away from tho. I built one of my friends a 3 cube sealed box out of subflooring almost 8 years ago and he still pounds with it today

Its not that it "won't work"... its just that its physical properties make it less desirable for most boxes (i.e. density, resonance, ease of use). Hell, if you felt like it, you could bond together multiple layers of cardboard to use as sides to the enclosure.

i didn't say that it will "work" i said it will work well...i agree that anything will "work". I simply offered him an opinion, and based on my experience it works well in small applications. 1 cube per side is indeed small to me.

also does anyone know a good site where I can design a dual chamber box, I'm using the RE enclosure site but it wont let me put in the divider, any options

Yeah, with small enclosures you can pretty much get away with murder. But I was explaining to him and the rest of the forum what Ive been told about box building.

And //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif (to everyone else) the info I posted above is mostly true for larger boxes, where the weight and stiffness of the wood is vital to the enclosure.

absolutely

hell i can help you with that...what are your dimensions/limitations on where its going to fit and what subs and how much net space you need?
ok dude, I'll give you dimmensions, Height 10", width 30", and depth 15", the total cubes should be 2.11 I need a divider right in the midle, but thanks
