Just like all the people who followed the suggestion, the major disinfectant mfgr who felt the need to tell people NOT to do it, and Dr Vin Gupta who has to say Trump was wrong:

I think we can see how people would take that leap of faith and give it a shot based on Trump's words, after all people were experimenting with any number of drugs and assorted home remedies for Covid.

To do it, you would have to use medical doctors. Which means it could be done. Which ended with people trying it.

He also called hydroxychloroquine a game changer, and people started using it. To their peril.
Medical officials had to tell people not to use it, even while “Dr. Rick Bright, a top official at the Department of Health and Human Services, says he was ousted from his job this week for pushing back on demands that he sign off on chloroquine treatments.”

When the POTUS talks in a time of emergency and panic, his followers will act on what he says.

If Joe Citizen knocked on the door and said to drink disinfectant, people would tell him to fvck off. When the POTUS offers it as a solution, his followers will follow. And follow they did.

He doesn’t have to say “I suggest you drink disinfectant” for the suggestion to be implied.

Sidebar- I find it pretty damn funny that the apologists who are fighting tooth and nail to defend him are the same ones who accuse Biden of causing the border crisis by “telling” non-citizens to cross the border illegally.
