Trigger Man!
The studies showing how ineffective the masks were were on the CDC website; they still may be there. The cotton masks that the majority of people wore in public were very ineffective. I worked at DHS during the initial outbreak and we'd get our mask training videos straight from CDC and HHS and the end of the videos they'd say "the mask barely works."
The purpose of the mask wasn't to prevent the spread of Covid. Unfortunately, I guess a lot people didn't take algebra or pre-calc, where they covered geometeric growth rates. I guess they didn't bother reading the formula the epidemiologist put out there again and again regarding the spread of Covid and other infectious diseases. Even a small dent in the spread of the virus can add up to huge numbers when you reach the 20th, 30th generation. Personally, I don't like the mask and could have gone either way with it, but unfortunately the mask became a rallying cry for both sides with neither side willing to acknowledge the facts about the mask.
If somebody was sneezing next to you when the pandemic was at it's worst would you rather have a mask on or not? Just curious.
