maybe its for holding the wires down on the sub instead of letting them flap around? such as those plastic holders with the tabs that come stock on cars stock wiring and holds them down, its early so cant think of the name lol... only thing ive ever been able to think of

yea but a tie wrap or zip tie will fit in there to sucrue the wires other then that it probly as something to do will painting or the way they make it

It's a terminal mounting tab. Used for quad coil subs....

I doubt it's for wires.

More likely for a place to screw a spider ring.

then the other terminals simply have a different mounting style.

It's simply a provision for mounting the original style of terminals which are riveted in place. They come in handy as a place to tidy up your wiring with wire ties but some drivers still use these types of terminals, which I prefer.
