what is the main difference between sealed and ported boxes

ported box couples the back wave with the front wave adding dbs. depending ur boxes tunning it can be 3dbs louder at certain frequencys. 3dbs = to doubling ur output.

3dbs is the equivalent of double power, not double output. Aroundish 10dbs is double "output" to the ear.

and yeah there's usually a big difference. But ported box need more space and aren't for every single subs

That's completely dependent on the subs, your preferences, your power, and the space you have to work with.

depends on the sub, depends on the box builder, depends on the vehicle, depends on equipment install, and when you want to build really specific it depends on music genre preference.

don't know what the box builder is, it's a ported box

the vechile is a trail blazer

The equipment install should be fine, it was originally installed for a memphis mojo

and the music, I like listening to is rock and rap
