What is the formula for cubic feet?

Its been a while since I've was in geometry so humor me. I'm thinking about buying a Type R or 13kv.2 and will build a sealed enclosure. How do I figure the cubic feet of an enclosure.

Sidenote question: I heard the Type R sounds horrible in a sealed enclosure. Is this true?

(Width * Height * Depth)/1728= Volume

TypeR's excel in ported boxes.

12 inches cubed equals 1728. therefore, one square foot is 1728 inches.. divide your dimensions product by 1728 for the cubic foot measurement.

example: 15" x 17" x 77"

15 times 17 times 77 equals 19635

divide 19635 by 1728 to get 11.362

therefore the dimesions 15x17x77 equal 11.3 cubic feet.

So take your external dimensions and subtract 1.5" from each of them (if you are using 3/4" MDF, single layered on all sides)

type R sound very good in a sealed enclosure they are just louder in ported enclousures.

amen, they make it idiot proof for basic boxes, and i've heard type r's in ported and the slap. Also is it true that the older type r's were having trouble with cones disconnecting from the voice coils, thats why alpine changed the surround design
