what is the differrnce

between a ported box that has pvc piping for ports and ported boxes that have no pvc pipe but the air escapes around a corner of wood and comes out of the box......which is better and why

i am planning on getting 4 re8's and put them in a 2 cu.ft ported box to 34 hz sending about 350 watts to all the subs (not each sub) what would u suggest for that....the thing i dont like about using the pvc is because i'e heard it can make a chuffing sound...i dont want that and do u know anyway to prevent that from happening

IMO slot ports are easier to make and sound better to, but you have to leave it tuned to the same frequency, with PVC ports you can get port plugs and change out the frequency for like competitions and stuff, so they all have advantages and disadvantages
