What is loud?

What DB and what freq does everybody consider loud? Above average daily driver setups, not walls. If you could divide it by cone area also. We know a blazer can hold more then a small hatch.

185 db's @ 28hz is considered decently loud....

90-95 dBA is the OSHA limit of exposure without hearing protection... hearing damage will ensue after that. 125 is considered the threshold of pain.. 140 gives permanent hearing damage even short term.

Ya itll be hard to justify by cone area or db numbers.... Some vehicles are very loud but dont meter high because there not spl drivers. I had 4 13.5w1s in my integra hatch and it was pretty **** loud but only did a 143 at a sanctioned event. It seemed louder or as loud to me as vehicles i had prior or after that did closer to the 150 mark. Granted it was sealed, not walled and only cost me about $600 i wasnt complaining. That was my daily driver and after about 15min id start to get a headache.

And again for cone area... theres lots of single subwoofers that will play louder than multiple subs of lesser brands/builds. So you cant really use the cone area as a threshold.

anything over a 42 is acceptable to me. 50s-60s(yes ive heard both) is loud.

and wtf is up with (140 db causes perm hearing loss at 15 min?) for the past year ive had 140s for daily drivers and my most current without my new amps/batts is a 43.2 on music i still pass hearing tests. is it the frequencies they test at or what?

but you would think as they say 140 for even 15 minutes is hearing loss, that i couldnt pass that shiz.

But the point is, I'm about to dump a lot of money and I want to be loud like sac. The power and driver upgrade should get me to the high 140s. Also bracing the rear quarters should add something.
