Ok I am putting my new box in my car and ran into a problem.

I disconect every wire on my battery under the hood and the one in the trunk.

so no wires hooked to eather battery both are wireless.

Go and take a dmm to the amp to make sure there is no power there and it reads 12.14 v so I go well maby the caps in the amp are holding a charge.

Pull out the positive wires and tape them up the do the same to the grounds on the amps.

remove box and amp cause amp is bolted on the back of the box.

Check the voltage on the wires in the car and they are still reading 12.14 v

Still checking the amp terminals? Caps in the amp will keep a charge sometimes as well.

seems normal to keep some what of a charge.

you diddnt set the "hold feature" on your dmm did you ?

No never set the hold on the dmm.

Wires in car still have power in them. 8.9v

And the amp is reading 8.4 v

I can understand the caps in the amp holding a charge just like a tv ect.... but the wires are what got me confused.

The wires are not hooked up to anything on eather end and still it has power in them.

I dont want to hook them back up to my amp and have it short it out when hooking up the wires.

Going to have to hook something up to the wires to drain the power out of them.

Whats it matter if there is a charge anyways?

cause when i go and hook up the power wires to the amp and there is current there that is not a good thing.

Your wires won't hold voltage. You're measuring something wrong.
