What is everyone tuning their HDC3's to?

Someones box tuned to 40 hz peaks at like 36 hz and thats low enough for car audio.

I like my HD's at 35Hz for the music I listen to, not sure about the new HDC's though as I haven't tried them yet...

ive been playing with my hdc more and more and im starting to think i should of tuned lower than the 38hz im at now...

May i ask why?

well the sub is slowly breaking in, and because of this i am expecting the low end to increase (as supported by a few members, and the fact that FS should dip a good 8-10hz). the lower end is there, but the really low stuff is lacking just a wee bit it seems like. initially i was extremely happy with it, as well as knowing that it would improve, but it doesn't seem like its going to, and thats starting to give me some push, on maybe doing a box tuned to 34 or 33 or so. or hell, maybe ill wait another month or two to have the sub fully break in and see what happens then? we'll see.

i know jeremiah25 ran hdc's in his explorer and he said that for the explorers the standard hdc recommended box doesnt sound very good to him. he said it was very peaky as well. after listening to it for a while now, i can see that yes, it can be a little bit peaky, at least in my explorer. he said he likes his tuned to ~34hz. he has also said that, in other cars, 40hz works just fine. so i guess you might just have to try it and see. i wouldnt say the hdc actually lacks a little low end, but rather that the enclosure will not let it do what i want it to do. i only used my old btl box for like a day or so (which was tuned to 33hz) and i think it sounded a little bit flatter.

Cus i got a trunk car but im running a 12 not a 15. I was debating on 40/38 hzz tuning but with this... maybe ill with the lower one. 2 hz make a difference? lol . maybe even lower if i see more reviews saying it sounded better down there. Oh well, it wont be powered for a couple months yet.

2hz really shouldn't make a huge difference at all. i went from a 33hz box to a 38. seems to me like 5hz can make a noticeable difference though, at least in my vehicle.

I run the 15 in 4 @ 40hz. I do see what IgnoreMe is talking about with it being peaky. Lil Jon's - Da Blow hits alot harder than Jeezy's Thug Motivation.

I'm gonna give it a little more time to see the loosening of the susepnsion / whatever but I may end up going with a different box maybe 4.5 @ 35 or something.

It still gets lowww though.
