What hz do you use as your cutoff freq?

Are these the best settings for subs + mids/highs

Current settings:

Headunit DEHX6800BS

Auto level high/ SLA + 1/ Bass Boost +1/ EQ powerful

Sub 12" Memphis PR shallow 250RMS 63Hz/ -12 cutoff freq for subwoofer

Pioneer TS 1675 Speakers 80Hz -24 cuttoff

Kenwood 9106D on 12" sub

Are these the correct settings to use for this setup? Its in a c5 corvette

It seems like there is less of a hit from the bass when I use the -6 vs -12 when setting my sub cutoff freq on anything above 63hz +. The shop that installed it said never to use SLA or bass boost at all, but without these the thump from the bass was really weak. So I am curious why they said don't use these.

Also the shop recommended replacing the X6800BS with a KDC-500 just to have 4v pre-puts over 2v since my highs are being replaced with rockford 6.5 punches thursday, because the pioneer ts1675's highs are being drowned out by the bass. Is the headunit swap worth it? I will eventually replace my memphis sub with a JL 12 v3 shallow.

hate to tell you but everything is set wrong besides the high pass and low pass. Bass boost along with your "powerful setting" with your EQ is introducing extra distortion in the music so basically you are on a one way track of blowing all your gear and wasting money and time.

SLA is source level adjuster because aux, CD, USB and bluetooth all have different signal strength levels, its to make it so that when you switch to one source to another, you maintain the same volume level. Its not to make your sh*t louder.

You will need an amp to your door speakers, There's no way around that. Your head unit only does 10 actual watts per speaker that aint sh*t and NO whatever power rating they advertise, its all BS, all aftermarkets only make around 10-15 watts, stock head units are 3-5 watts.

For your weak hitting sub, on the head unit, Bass boost off, loudness off, EQ flat. Raise your volume to 80% of your head unit's max volume. Find the "sub level" on your head unit, max that out. Go back to your subwoofer amp, adjust the gain/level/input sensitivity on it until it stops getting louder or if the sub is stressed out. Then back it off a couple of notches. Do not use any bass boost on the amp either.

Also switching it out with that JL sub wont do anything, you arent magically gonna get louder. SHallow mounts are shallow mounts, they dont have the motorforce to produce a lot of bass. You'll need a real subwoofer setup if you want anything decent bass wise.

Manually adjust the EQ to your liking afterwards, DO NOT touch the lower frequencies unless you want cooked subs and blown amps.

thank you for the information. This is good to know because I definitely don't want to blow my gear. Can you tell me if it's worth going from to 2v to 4v pre-outs Kdc-500 vs X6800bs for more eq options. I'm still curious on that question if there's really a reason to do it since I am installing the punches.

no, waste of money and time for not even a real upgrade.

Punch speakers arent that good either. You might want to buy your own gear and have the shop install instead of buying whatever the shop shoves in your face.

Thanks for the advice I turned off bass boost,usb/ipod sla to match tuner, auto volume level off. Then setup my own configuration on custom 1. The bass hits great and I have more control over the system than powerful ever gave me.
