What grit?

I started my first fiberglass enclosure yesterday. Already have parts that sag because I didnt get the mat tight enough. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif But Once I'm doe laying the several layers, what grit of sandpaper do I use to get it ready for paint? And what are the right ways to paint it? Like sand, primer, paint, clear, etc... Thanks.

80 grit on glass, bondo, 80 grit, primer, 200 grit, 400 grit, paint, 1000 grit wetsand, 1500 grit wetsand, clear (if using) 2000 grit wetsand

most of the times you need multiple coats of primer, paint, and clearcoat

220 wet

alright cool...I will hopefully have all the layers on today and sand tomorrow....along with bondo

thats some bad shape if you need 40grit to shape it LOL. 80grit on a sander has always been good for my glassing.

if you don't have a sander and are doing it by hand...40 isn't a bad idea. it'll speed up the process quite a bit.

hand sanding isnt worth it. $20 orbital sander will make up for itself in the hours you would save in sanding.

well I spent all my money on jigsaw, FG mat, FG Resin, and lil other things so gonna have to hand sand this time...

40 grit is NOT a bad idea on a power sander my friend. yes 80 will knock down what 40 will..............and lose a lot of roughness in the process. im sure noone here can spread bondo perfectly. this is what 40 grit is for, you know where u spread to swipes beside each other, and have the ridge between the two, not to mention it makes your 80 last longer and work more efficient.
