What exactly dose a capacitor do and whats it's purpose?

The only way that could be true is if the cap was reducing the power that got to the amp?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I dunnoooooo
i don't see it doin' that. maybe if it was installed without charging right first.

thank you guys...i know what it is and what it dose now...
so if i have a "strong" enough electrical i shouldn't need one...but if i stay stock or close to it i should get one...

because i'm going to upgrade my alt..do a big 3 upgrade...and run dual batteries...so should i get one?
do you seriously think does is spelled that way?

A cap is not useless at all. In the long run it will help to save your electrical system(trust me there are thousands of “caps” all over today’s cars and for the short term it will keep you battery from robbing power from other devices in the car when your amp needs an inrush of current.

IE, I’m sure everyone at some time has turned on their lights and hit a note that dimmed them. With the right wiring and a cap this issue can be resolved (for the short term).

Also, I would 100% have to see you increase the output of an amp by taking a cap out. There had to be something wrong with your wiring, cap or usage to have this happen.

its happened in many cases... ask jntar, he seen it happen
i pulled it out after my first run and second run was louder without the cap. everything the same except just removed the cap. i put it back in to make sure and i went down a db and pulled it back out and went back up... so no im not kidding

*cough* *cough* Bull Pucky:rolleyes:
