What does it take to be an authorized dealer?

I'm just curious as to how someone gets to be an authorized dealer online for certain companies. Are you required to buy a certain amount of products each month? Do you have to buy them wholesale or what? Any info. would be great help, thanks. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

You negotiate a contract ...

I'm curious as to what sort of details that sort of contract would entail. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

When I contacted Pioneer (among others) they wouldn't even bother talking to you if you didn't have an actual brick and mortar storefront...
lots of places are like that ,they believe online stores cheapen their good name. Thats why so many people go to 2nd or 3rd party wholesalers so they can get a bunch of brands with less of a buy in and less people to contact. so the only way to discourage this is to not let them offer a manufacturer warrenty with their product. also it takes bussiness away from the authorized dealer because most of these 3rd party places can sell for far less because they deal in huge numbers and have lower overhead (because they lack the brick and mortar) . i might add it couldnt bother the manufacturer too much because they still sell to these 2nd and 3rd party vendors knowing full well that they are distibuting to other vendors that are not authorized.

It does depend on what you negotiate for. For my contract with Phoenix Gold, I had to stock $1500 worth of product a month for 6 months (retail prices not WS). After 6 months that requirment and the prices go down. So basically you show them that you can move the product and they give you a bonus after you have proven your worthyness.

Most manufactures do indeed require a brick and mortar facility, and an installation bay. You muct have an advertisement program, and money for a buy in. If you cannot go direct, most have manufacture distributors. Whether it be distributing reps, or actual firms. Then you can buy less, and have less overhead. But your still held by that 'firms' program and contract. But by not going direct, you have less discount.
