What do I have?

being a high school senior I'm not looking for the biggest baddest set up on the block, although I only know of two other people at my school with systems. I just want something pretty nice. Is it worth the extra money to go with component?

If you're in it for SQ, Components will be worth your money as most component systems out-perform coaxials in this area. You don't have to buy 'the most expensive' component set though, either. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yeah components are nice but only thing bout components idk if you would want to spend the extra cash to get an amp to power them . if you ran coaxials you can just put em in and hook them up i mean you can run an amp to them to amp them up if you want but waste kinda. my ride right now here's what mine consists of

*my front stage which means your front doors : 6.5 alpine type s 2 way coaxials

*Rear deck is your rear speakers means 6x9 pioneer rev's

*Sub set up Two pioneer dual voice coil 12s

*Enclosure a ported box tuned at 35hz

*My amp is a monoblock dab1800x digital audio amp

*wiring is IOSX 4awg wiring

*A custom 175 amp alternator made by a shop by me got a good deal on it

*Little bit of dynamat in the trunk not to much

*my hu a pioneer nothing crazy

*My eq a 7 band sound storm eq.

That's my setup man

For $400 you could get a fairly decent starter system. If you could up the budget, what would be your absolute max?

I'm talking about getting the following:

Front Comps

Sub

Amp(s)

Wiring

Materials for sub box

How big of an amp would I need to power 4 component speakers? And I already have a sub and amp for that. I could push 500, possibly 600, but it would take a while to get the money. I don't work a lot of hour a week.

Don't worry about rear speakers right now... focus on the front stage and the sub stage. If you still want more speaker after you get everything installed/tuned, then worry about rears.

go pick up a new pioneer or alpine deck for 250 and a decent set of 6.5 components for 100

go to knukonceptz.com amp kit for like 40 buck with all the wires u need

u can get the rear 6x9" for like 60-70 bucks for something decent later

If you can swing $500-500, check out the Phoenix Gold RSd65cs $129 shipped (authorized dealer) (or get them off ebay for under $100 shipped).

Next check out the Kicker KX650.4 amp. $170 refurb, but they're authorized so if anything goes wrong you can send it straight to Kicker for service.

Lastly, scope out the Kicker CVR122 for $75. It'll work well in a sealed box, but much better in a ported.

Use the front channel of the amp for the comps and bridge the rear channels for the sub.

You can get a decent wiring kit at www.knukonceptz.com (check out their 4 channel, 4 gauge kit).

TOTAL: $450-550ish with estimated shipping and sub box materials.

Do you need a HU?
