What could be causing this?

The Subwoofer is a polk dxi 124 dvc connected to an RE audio 2000.1 amp in a 1991 Honda Civic LX model. The amp's rms at 4 ohm is stated to be 410W and the subs rms is stated to be 360W (180 per coil). The gain on the amp is set to about 1/3 and the bass level on the amp is set to about 3db (setting goes from 0-18). Even with the bass level set to off, it will do this (just wuth playing even less bass) The sub is also in the stock ported box.

It's difficult to see in the video, but whenever it makes that sound, it almost looks like it is holding the cone in rather than letting it go out (if that makes sense). Also, whenever that happens the blue LED on the remote flickers a lot so I'm wondering if it's a power issue.

Any ideas?

if the sub is pulling in instead of pushing out it can possibly be that the polarity connect to the sub woofer is mixed up, that or if you are saying that the blue led on the remote is flashing when it happens it can maybe be an amp issue although it is very likely to be a sub problem (blown) or a polarity issue ( pos and negative mixed up)

Is this what clipping sounds like? I haven't really been able to find any other examples of what's happening to mine.
It sounds like a blown sub, but hard clipping would sometimes give the same sound.

When the sub gives a nasty sound like this and you are able to go down on the amp gain and it stops. Then you are clipping your sub.

On lower end subs like these clipping can cause instant death.

The higher end comp subs can handle more abuse.

So I took the sub out and it doesn't appear to be blown. There's no sound when pushed in and it does not smell burnt.
Could be that the soft parts like the spiders or cone have shifted or become unglued.

Do you have access to another amp?

Could it be that I just need to do the Big 3 upgrade? I'm thinking that unless the amp or sub is actually damaged/bad, that maybe the amp isn't getting enough power from the car (blue LED flickers on amp remote but there is no headlight dim).
