nGDemocrats in the U.S. Congress released a report on Nov. 13 estimating the real cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars at $1.6 trillion US through 2008.
Even with controversial "hidden costs" — such as lost investments — factored out, the report said the Bush administration has asked for more than $800 billion in direct war funding. That will likely surpass $1 trillion by the war's end.
A trillion: It's a number with 12 zeros, almost too big to comprehend.
So what else could be bought with a million million dollars spent on the war effort?
