What are the top headunits out there?

Wow there are just oh so many threads like this...

Pioneer Premier, Alpine, Kenwood Excelon, Eclipse and Pro Audio Clarions are all good... search?

I enjoy you no longer having two sigs though, that bell guy was getting old.

Also, why would you only want to know which brands are good? Each one of the brands I listed makes a worthless deck in their lineup (alpine 9841+43, Kenwood 228 and 7028, clarion Db355+ 455+555 if you want a sub) IMO

I kind of find it amusing this came up. Just this afternoon, a friend said a "better" head unit would make things sound better than the one I have. I was skeptical as to how much difference this would actually make and how much a "good" head unit would cost...

Eclipse 8455 is an excellent unit but for some reason i want a DRZ9255 now. i want to run a 4 way setup now. but the 8455 is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/2thumbs.gif.fdc3ba010dbb42b61704534b46d02fe4.gif .

i see you have one, im sure they are great HUs but when talking about top HU's with alot of options of processing they cant do too much
Who says the top head units have a lot of processing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Denon Z1, anyone?

It completely depends on what you are trying to do and what components you have to make up the rest of your system. The reason why I do not like the 9843 is because it doesnt have 3 sets of outputs, the output it has it 2volt, and the tuning options are a bit limited. But for those on a budget, or someone who just wants to run subs (which it appears is all you are doing at the moment) then it is a fine reliable deck. It all depends on what you want it to do.

It makes a heck of a difference! I too was skeptical, until I changed my McIntosh MX406 for a Pioneer P9 Combo. Incredible. The Mac 406 is probably more detailed, but the P9 has much better bass and sweeter mids. And you can tune it to do almost anything.
