Hello, i bought these subs from my buddy like 2 years ago but i havent really found out what is the power they can handle. I usually have them with a 200 watt amp but im pretty sure they are rated higher.....they are mtx and i think 12", here is a picture of them....a technician one day told me they were 250watts rms each but im not sure....if anyone knows about them and could help me out i would appreciate it...thanks...

here is a bigger pic..

which amp could i buy to max these babies out?

thx

dont make 2 threads man, just bump your old one, and edit it if needed
it showed as server busy last time so i thought thread wasnt made....sorry....how do i bump the old one?

thats the thing, i dont know the model number...im hoping someone knows them or else im going to have to open the box

when you bump your thread, all you have to do is type a reply to post, and every time you reply or post something new in your thread it automatically goes to the top of the forum list

as soon as i press enter this thread will be at the top of the list at the top of the main forum page, until someone elses thread gets replied to

Those are MTX 6000 12s..

Decent subs when sealed. Wet *** when ported.
what do u mean decent when sealed and wet *** when ported? sry im new in this....and what amp could i get to power these? maybe a 1000watt 2ch mono?

thanks

He means quite literaly that they sound decent in a sealed enclosure...and they sound like a wet *** when they're in a ported enclosure.

I don't have experience with the driver, so I can't verify that...but that's what he means.

As far as power goes...you've got to first tell us if they're dual voice coil, or single voice coil drivers.

If they're SVC 4 ohm drivers, and they handle 250 watts a piece, you're looking at trying to find an amp that'll put out ~500 watts into a 2 ohm (or 8 ohm) load.

If they're DVC 4 ohm drivers, then you're looking for an amp that can put out ~500 watts into a 1 ohm load.

so i guess im going to have take the subs out and look at their models and all the specs? so i can tell u if its 4ohm or 2ohms?

thx

Well, according to the spec sheet on their site, they come in either dual 4 ohm coils, or a single 4 ohm coil.

Look at the back of the sub..if there are two sets of terminals for wires (2+, and 2-) then it's a DVC driver...if there are only two terminals (one set), then it's a single voice coil driver.

You can go from there.

they got a single set, so they are SVC 4ohms....now what am i looking for in an amp? 1000watts peak, 500rms, 250watts x 2 @ 4ohms?

if the amp only says 500rms x 1 @ 4ohms is that fine as well?

i really want to get this over with and buy the amp that can max out my subs....

thanks

can u also tell me what is good from this list?
