what are the odds....

once you learn you will wonder why you've waited this long to drive a manual. No matter what car it is they are fun. And only lazy people think they are a pain in traffic because I drive a stick in baton rouge traffic ( which can be a *****!) and I dont complain.
and how heavy is your clutch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

When you lease a car, odds are pretty good that lease will come up due at the worst possible time. For future reference, when installing a system in a leased car, find out the expiration date of the lease BEFORE installing the stereo. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

ok so heres the list....please help me add to this list....right now im looking at

looking for a car with under 25k miles

G35 coupe

2004 Mustang Cobra

Nissan Z

Mazda RX-8

Volkswagon GTI (new ones i cant see myself driving)

Pontiac GTO (if i can find one)

possibly a 335ci...they seem to keep coming up in this discussion

older WRX STI

older Lancer Evo

i learned how to drive a stick so ill be looking for a manual transmission

04 Cobras are going for 29k+. Anything under that and I'd question the condition of the car. The Cobra / GTO would be my choice, but I doubt it would fit your budget.

Go for the GTO //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I just bought a Mazdaspeed 3, and it is really nice.

263HP, 18" wheels, and a good list of standard options. All for 23k new

Add 1k to that price, and you get a fully loaded car with every option.

G35 coupe- hard to find under 20..and usually high mileage or beat on

2004 Mustang Cobra..fun..but not if you have to drive in the snow

Nissan Z- nice choice...but can you live with only 2 seats?

Mazda RX-8-save yourself the headache

Volkswagon GTI -had an 06..very fun car and decent on gas

Pontiac GTO - again..useless in the winter unless you have a super light foot

possibly a 335ci...have fun with maintenance costs

older WRX STI- good all year round but finding one that wasnt beat up might be hard

older Lancer Evo- also hard to find in good shape

these are just my opinions...I think they are all nice pics..just depends on your needs.

would you mind maybe making some suggestions?

like i said trying to keep it 20k or less or perhaps a TINY bit over...

would like a stick

would like something thats fun to drive (decently fast, good handling)

i like on the east coast, we had one big snow this year, and i was at school so i wasnt going anywhere anyway...if we go snowboarding i just take someone else's car....

so as far as needs...i just want something that looks nice, is fun to drive, isnt super "run of the mill" and something i can afford..

all of those cars have high odds of being "ran hard and put away wet". Don't know what you plan on for mods (outside of the audio system), but that could be a factor.

I'll give you my biased opinion about the MKV GTI (as I have one); I think it's a blast. DSG is great, even after 10 years of driving a stick. It's not the fastest on the block, but a $600 chip will put 50hp and 70+ ft/lbs on it. It is pretty well sound insulated. I average 27 mpg on freeway trips at 75-80 mph.

I'd stay away from the MKIV GTIs as they've had serious reliability issues.

As for driving stick in heavy traffic - it's all about the 2nd gear crawl. You just creep along, leaving a considerable distance from the person in front of you, all while maintaining your cool 7 mph crawl. Use an example from truckers - you don't see them blasting up behind the car in front of them only to stand on their brakes every 5 seconds.

The problem with that is, in heavy traffic nobody lets you leave a nice gap between you and the car in front of you. Unless you mean just a 2-lane road, then well, that's not really heavy traffic. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
