What are some good head units?

My head unit finally died so I am trying to get a new one. I have been to a few stores and so far what I like is the Kenwood kdc-mp828 and the Pioneer DEH-P8600MP. Are these headunits basically the same in performance or is one better then the other. Any other suggestions would be nice too. Thanks for your help!

Eclipse makes excellent sounding decks.

If you have the money, Eclipse hands down (best sq and best warranty). It's best to get this deck from an authorized dealer.

If you have the money? Their entry level decks start at only $179(and those have 5V pre outs). They are a very good value, imo.

from my experience, Alpine, Blaupuckt and pioneer, keep away from sony except they have sorted their act since last year,......

i personaly think that the diffeence btw a good and not so good HU is the quality of the tone controls (built in EQ) apart from that, the rest of the money goes toward extra features (RDS, time alignment, "magical" bass boast) and brand name
