What amp would better power this sub?

PA Mofos are 2 ohm impedance per coil. So you should be getting ~200 wRMS out of your Rockford amp.

note: For the record, that's a cool old RF amp. I wouldn't just toss it on craigslist, unless it's in bad condition.

Upgrading to the MTX 6500D would mean running it at 4 ohms - which gives you 250 wRMS. Not really worth your time.

If you have an old Mofo,

It's rated above 2000w RMS, but I'd feed it between 1000-1500. Audioque's 1200 is on sale for $230, Hifonics bxi1210d is ~$200... lots of good choices out there.

If you have the new Mofo,

It's rated at 3000wMAX, so I'd keep 750-1000wRMS, considering the way PA rates their stuff.

Just make sure whichever amp you choose is either:

- a mono amp, rated to 1 ohm

- a 2 channel amp, bridgeable at 4 ohm

I just got a single 15" Power Acoustik Mofo. I've got a Rockford Fosgate Punch 100ix DSM, but I'm thinking about trading it for this:http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-Mtx-Thunder-6500D

Is that a good idea?

And please don't insult the size. If you can recommend something else that's okay, but I have to go with baby steps =/.
i had an splw 12 same thing as mofo and ran it on a us amps md1d at .5 ohm daily the thing was the shit! so i would reccomend us amps md1d only 250 shipped on ebay does 1900 rms at .5 daily with stock battery. and 1500 rms at 1 ohm with good electrical! but if u cant get that do an ap1500 best amp for the money
