What amp for 15" XXX re audio

Hey I have a 15" XXX re audio sub. I am wondering what amp would be a good match for the sub. Currently I am using a re audio xtx5000 and I am not all that impressed with it. Anybody have any better suggestions of amps to match with this sub?

Well, whether you have dual 2's or dual 4's I find it unlikely you're going to find significant improvements in output based on your amp. You have ample power either way.

You might need to look to your enclosure for improvement.

A few years back I ran a single RE XXX of PPi 2400. Wasnt too happy with the output switched to a mmats 2100.1 and that make a huge differece.

N2audio has a good point spec's on the box.

Well it's in a ported box, 32x16x22.25 outer dimensions.

The port is 5x14.5 and is about 27" long.

I have another box 32x20x20 that I have sealed up. I was going to try that box later in the week to see the difference.

Btw the sub is wired at 1ohm. I'm wondering if the re audio will actually put out rated. At 1ohmy amp is supposed to do 2500w.

The amp you want is my sundown sae 1200d .//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yes.gif.2d6d3882a589966b8145fbc57db57f33.gif
Nah, my PG Xenon will make 1400-3000rms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Enclosure numbers seem reasonable.

More thoughts on the amp -- Even if the amp is over-rated, the real-world SPL difference between 2500 and 1500 wouldn't be substantial - and if the amp IS over-rated I seriously doubt it's THAT bad anyway. That's why I'm stuck on something other than the amp - unless of course it's just defective and completely not doing what it's supposed to do.

How's your electrical system? There aren't many I know of that can supply the current needed for an amp that big w/o voltage dropping a lot. If it's an unregulated amp power output due to low voltage could drop significantly.

You should have at least a 150A alt, preferably 200A.

I assume you've double checked the way the coils are wired.

I remember when I first installed my dvc 2 I wired one coil out of phase. The sub was getting 1kw and barely moving. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif Oops.

The amp definitely works, its not defective.

For electrical I have a 320A alt and did the big 3 in 0 gauge.

I've double checked the ohms of the wiring, but how exactly would you wire a coil out of phase?

out of phase is when you switch the negative and positive wires on the terminals?

Yeah, that.

amp to coil 1 - then, like an idiot, connect the wires backwards on coil 2.

Thankfully I caught it quickly and didn't damage the sub.
