What affect will this have?

So I made a box today. Apparently I measured wrong and the box won't fit right in the trunk. I can get it in there with the subs upfiring, but not facing towards the back. There's about 4 inches from the top of the box to the trunk lid and the port is 6" wide. The box is 7.5 cubes for 2 15" XXXs. Will I get a lot of cancellation, lose some spl, no difference, or what? Stupid thing was off by like 2 inches //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

i know how it feels to be off by that little size...well with my 10's the best position is with it facing the back...gives the best bass...but i guess if u open the trunk u wont notice a difference....not while driving either...althought u might have some serious rattle problems

I dont think you should give your own experiences to base facts on. 'The best position is with it facing the back', leads him to beleive that it is the best position for everyone, which isnt true.... Not trying to be a dick, I am just saying to clarify with him.... It varies from vehicle to vehicle, and many sedans have exreme cancelation issues with subs faced towards the rear seats. And in your case, facing the top might cause cancelation, I vote it will, but it might not. Turn them on and see how they sound, if it sounds like ***, try a new box.

I say take the top of your box apart and re-measure,cut,glue,screw and re-seal it.This happened to me as well,i was off by 2" and it sucked but i took the same box and corrected the problem and it sounds "awesome".Trust me,it'll be worth your time and you will be able to face them the way you want.

Haha, take the top off? That's not going to be easy/worthwhile.

it's alot faster than starting all over and the box will still slam.hahahaha
Well for one thing, it's not too tall, it's too deep. And I think it would be a ***** to cut off 2 inches or so from the back then reglue/screw it. I don't even see how that would work well.

What kind of car is this in? I seen a cavalier a few months ago that had 4 of the alpine type r's firing up. It sounded so bad that If that was my car I wouldnt even turn the dam n system on. About 2 weeks ago he fired them back in pretty sweet custom box.Let me tell you what the diffrence was nite and day. Even some of the rattling cut down. I was like did you dynomat your trunk or something? My advice is to make a different box to fit in the trunk and face them back. Never hurtz to have a box or 2 laying around as well, lol! Good luck.
