What a great Xmas gift to my self!

been there done that, but a much cheaper sub. Anymore I use a metallic sharpie to mark all the holes, remove the sub and then drill them.. Thats one of those "expensive lessons" :/
yeah. markers are good..

having an extra basket on hand also helps much much when cutting the actual mounting hole for the speaker. i cut my holes just enough so the basket barely fits and requires a little sanding. much easier then having to mount and remount and remount and remount a large heavy speaker just cause the holes not wide enough.

thanks guys for the info!!

What happen is on the mounting holes, they holes were not all the way through there. I had to drill through a 'metal Plate" to get a solid hole. I am not sure if it was suppose to be that way or not? but as i was drilling number 3, the drill slipped and right into the surround. I am mostly going to send it back and get a new surround if possible.

I was pretty fired up last night i calmed now, just disappointing. Didn't even get listen to it!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif:crying:

umm

No man your not supposed to drill new holes in the basket, there are already 8 there.

You have to poke through the edge of the surround with a screw where the holes are in the basket. You can take the gasket off and feel underneath the bottom and see where the holes are...

Best bet is to get some windshield adhesive and put it on the back of the surround...depending on how big the crack is...you can figure a whole recone around 100 bucks..which imo, is not worth it. Just goop it up.

More than likely it's going to require a recone if you send it back. Fix it man fix it!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

take the box and use a screwdriver and put a hole through the box that would correspond with the hole in the surround. they will replace it for you. just blame ups. say it came that way. very simple.

OMG wow, do i feel stupid! i had no clue that the ring on the side was able to come off. To clarify, the ring with the mounting holes wasnt lined up with the holes on the basket. being that this is my first sub of this type, i had no clue it was remove able.

if i fix the tear my self, i wont have any issue with xmax or sound?
