Well

thank you for that thought provoking and informational explanation @ss face.

i am truly being serious about this. i know and understand quite a bit about quite a wide range of topics but unfortunately politics and economics are not in my catalog.

i know i will get blasted for this but......that is exactly why i don't vote.

Which i suppose being a veteran is absolutely shameful but because i didnt understand anything they were talking about or how it affected one thing vs. another i didnt feel as though i had a right to make a contribution. my feeling has always been if you can't make an intelligent contribution or at least an intelligent argument for your contribution you shouldn't contribute. As such i have never made a contribution in the form of a vote, be it for pres, house, senate, gov, mayor, etc.

I was being dead fucking serious, cuntwagon. There are too many of you. Those of us that pay attention are out-numbered like a motherfucker.
i knew you were being serious. i had no reason to think you were joking but after calling me an ignorant mother fvcker, you could have at least attempted to school me a little bit on something related to what i ask.

In fact one could make the argument that because people like you don't take the time to explain things to people like me you are just as at fault as i am.

i will be totally honest here (because i don't get butthurt by people on the web making fun of me or calling me names) but i barely know the difference between a democrat and a republican.

then get educated bro... and i dont mean only watch the mainstream media, and think thats the truth... actually do some research into what's going on in this country.

We have one of the most corrupt, fiscally irresponsible, oppressive govenments around... yet, the vast majority of americans dont realize it, and think that we are still "#1". even tho we really aren't even close to "#1" in any category that counts (i.e. science, social issues, healthcare, life expectancy, etc...)

that is what i am attempting to do here. i am asking for a little education from people that i assume to be more intelligent in the matter than i. aside from mainstream media i wouldn't even know where to look for "the truth" or how to discern it from the garbage.

thankfully i am not so naive that i think we are still the greatest nation in the world, but i am lost as to how we got to where we are.

i am not saying it is your job to teach me or anyone else the difference between liberal and conservative or democrat and republican.

what i am saying is that it is important for everyone to HELP educate each other on what is going on. If people are so concerned with how\where things are going and how ignorant people like me are to the entire situation you would think they would want to help those people understand what is going on.

i am not expecting a college education on politics and economics from a forum, i was hoping for a little insight as to what is going on and things i need to know\places i need to look to be informed.

you are also right in the fact that i did not specify what i was asking to be schooled in. So to answer your question i would like to know what is so fvcked up and why. i assume that what i can do to fix it will come with the information i get as to why things are the way they are.

As for my service and being willing to die for my country -- at that time (10+ yrs ago) i was a bit naive. i thought that was what i was doing, putting my life on the line to protect AND preserve our way of life.

Well, where do you want to start? There is SOOO much, that it could take days to explain everything that goes on... but i'll put it as simple as i can.

Corporations run the govt... plain and simple... politicians are bought and paid for by certain large corporations. You may not see how this affects you, but it really does every single day.

Prisons for profit is a huge issue that no one really talks about. most dont realize that it is as big of an issue as it is... but when a govt starts to imprison it's own people for profit, something has to change.

Corruption is rampent in our govt. there are SO many BS jobs within the federal workforce, that have no reason to even exist (the vast majority being political appointees) ... There really is so much waste and corruption, it can be overwhelming sometimes.

If you're looking for the difference in a republican and dem, conservative and liberal.... it's a really grey area. Not what their principle stances are supposed to be... but what directions the parties have gone in are.... If you look at the difference between what a true conservative's stances are, and where the republican party is today... its a far stretch between the 2 (same on the other side) ... but none of that really matters, because the majority of politicians out there are just puppets... so party really makes no difference.

The biggest problems we have tho, are career politicians, privately funded elections, and lobbyists.

thats just a few examples, for the short and sweet
