and i have not yet thrown it into a box.... im throwing about 400rms at it in free air...

and i hooked up both coils to get a 4ohm load and it does the same thing

See if you still hear the noise after you get it in a box. Sounds like the coil is rubbing but who knows since you hear no noise when pushing in on the cone.

If i remember correctly, my friends sounded pretty similar to that. Once in a box and full power it did not make any noise. I guess if it needs a recone, lucky you didnt sell/trade it as a working sub..? Where did you get it, off the forums?

I KNOW! I WOULD HAVE BEEN PISSED! but ima build the box tom. and c what happens before i send DD the woofer for $146 re-cone!
