Extremely inefficient. Dont work well ported. Require a very large sealed box for any decent alignment. Massively large, even by today's standards. And massively expensive, even by today's standards.
I have 05 xxx's. I was seriously considering upgrading when the new ones came out. But I found their design to be quite a let down.

Good for HT, not real applicable in car audio however. Most people end up seeming to stuff them in too small of sealed boxes, or still try giving ported a chance. I say if Im spending that much coin on a speaker, it better be easy to make perform well.

Should have found a pair of used SI Mags, just as loud, better SQ and much easier to drive and make an enclosure for.

werd... thx for clearing that up. So you've actually heard them before, huh? And the consensus is that they're rather inefficient? 'cause I was gonna start by giving them rms(2K watts according to re). Hmmmmm...

Not the 15" or 18" but I have heard the 12". The output was impressive but it was pretty boomy and the upper frequency extension was a little poor. I have no idea what the enclosure was though except for that it was ported. The guy who had it didn't know so it might have been some ghetto pre-fab or local shop creation. Either way, it was not what I want out of a sub.

I think maybe I'll switch to mx's then... seems more of a match for what I'm trying to do. I don't have the space for a huuuuge box. And the $ its gonna cost for the power to push the xxx's. :0 I guess I have some decisions to make, huh? It'll only be the 4th or 5th time I've changed my mind, lol!
