I'm bored at work!!!
This will be, as stated, my 4th box for this sub. The original was a sealed JL ProWedge box. I changed to another box snake-ported & tuned to about 29hz @ about 1.8 cubes after displacement. I then got a sedan so I needed something smaller; this is my current box. I tuned this one to 27hz and have about 1.9 cubes after displacement.
Well, after building a false-floor everything got messed up (space wise) I'm looking to do another box. I was going to fiberglass, but I might just try to build a wedge-shape box to squeeze out as much space as I can in folding seat area. I'm really trying to decide what I want to do with this box. I'm thinking about 2.2 cubes @ 30hz. I love this sub tuned low, but I feel like I'm missing some "umph" up higher. If I tune higher, but add more space, will this still help me in the low-end? Toss out some ideas here guys. I'm open to anything right now. I'll be getting a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" MDF Friday for $6 from a friend's shop (he owns a cabinet making shop) so I figured I'd try MDF again before I commit to fiberglass. I still would like to do fiberglass to have a "perfect fit" but I think I'm going to run into too many problems.
Cliffs: Building a new box. Looking to keep low-end but get some more out of 40-50hz range. 30hz and 2.2 cubes good for this? Give me your suggestions.
