Web Hosting Interest?

Well I've just recently decided to start hosting webspace again, but wondering how much interest is out there these days. Prices have changed, and my past clients have all moved on to other hosting companies.

Anyways, I'm just wondering how many people are interested. I'm focusing more on small personal sites, with a basic package of 2gb at $5.00 per month 4gb at $8 and so on, unlimited bandwidth, domain hosting, cPanel, instant backups, FTP access and pretty much everything. It's hosted off of my cousins server facility he has multiple dedicated servers up 24/7 located in Chicago.

Well, if I see there's any interest let me know and I'll start setting up some plans.

I have been a web host since 2002, the industry has changed a great amount and it is no longer easy to make money as it was back then as every kid who can afford a $20/mo reseller plan is calling themselves a 'web host' these days.

My suggestion would be to find a niche market OR offer something else, if I was going to even consider starting a new hosting company in 2007 I would base my main business around web design and then offer hosting with it added into the design package or just also sell it on your site outright without requiring any design work thus leaving you with just 'hosting' customers.

Best site on the net for more info is http://www.webhostingtalk.com tons and tons of info there.

How to Politely Tell Someone if They Are Annoying

Is there someone you know who's annoying? If you want to be tactful about the situation, here's what you can do.

Steps

Think, "What annoys me about this person?"

Think how you would like to be told that you are annoying.

Wait until you find the person alone. Tell them what about them annoys you and why. There is a good chance that they don't realize that they are irritating.

Gently remind the person when he or she exhibits the annoying behavior. If the person continues, he or she is either a)forgetful or b)malicious. You must then treat the person as what he or she is: a)a willfully annoying person, or b)someone with chronic bad memory, which cannot be helped.

Tips

Be nice to the person. The more polite and reasonable you are, the more chance you have of being taken seriously.

If they are not guilty of 'major' annoyance, so to speak, it may be more effective to give some non-verbal sign that you are not happy with their behaviour, e.g. sighing, looking concerned. Of course, this depends on them actually being receptive to your cues.

Don't give a lot of attention to the person when he/she annoys you.

Warnings

Don't tell him in front of anybody. This is humiliating. It can and will make the person angry and not listen.

Also remember if you are going with your own server to co-lo in Chicago remember when you co-lo your bandwidth rates are going to be much higher than if you lease.

I lease everything because I have extra bandwidth I get included in the lease price and I am not stuck with 3-4 year old hardware when I want to upgrade.

For example if I lease a server I get somewhere between 1000-2000GB of bandwidth for it, I pay say $400/mo for server, bandwidth, cpanel license etc.

If I co-lo I need to pay for the server, place it at the co-lo then commit to X amount of bandwidth needed. For a co-lo 1000GB of bandwidth might cost you $600/mo just for bandwidth not including price of server, licenses etc.

Yeah I did some looking around last night and it looks like the prices are much cheaper than before. I say **** it.

My cousin has 6 servers that he uses to host Source (hl2, counterstrike, etc) servers on and it's pretty profitable for him.

And faulkton, I know who you are. And I know where you live. I know what computer you use and where your PS3 is. Don't mock me or I murder family.
