water proof?

a friend of mine has a jeep and goes muddin in all the time. problem is he already bought some stuff and got a bazooka bass tube. he said he got the marine pioneers, so that might be good enough for him. im going to have to convince him to deaden the doors some what, maybe a good idea!

the only thing is whats a good water proof sub setup? i was thinking of building a forward firing sub enclosure or a 6 or 8th order depending on which sub he wants.

any ideas?

probably just water resistant. although he has a snorkel air intake, i doubt he lets the inside of his ride get wet, it a newer jeep i think.

I know what you're thinking with the bandpass idea, but remember, anything that lets the sound out will also let water in.

true, thats why i was thinking forward firing any enclosure i may build, less chance of water getting in.

if he hadn't already bought his gear, i would of suggested a 3 way front stage with 8's in the doors or something to that point.

Well if it has a top, and the floor boards tend to get wet, up-firing may be better. I mean, are you wanting to build this thing to allow partial submersion of the cab in water, or just the occasional spray from the tires through the windows?

he has a soft top and is more worried about it raining/ spray from mudding. he never really drives the thing under water he said. he leaves his top open once in a while and doest want everything getting ruined when it poors. i told maybe if he was more careful with the top, a down firing enclosure would be better. especially since down here the weather changes every 5 minutes lol.

That's what I would suggest. If he doesn't anticipate sinking it ever, go with down-fire. It will likely sound the best given its a soft/open top anyway.
