It's called a snailshell design...I think it looks like a Tapered quarter wave....
Supposedly it has quite a gain over ported...especially on the low end...
Nope, not even remotly close to a snail shell box...i have the design, but not the balls to build one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif.....I can say this, it has a diaphram and a fisher port....and the box acts like a huge winding port :p but thats all ill say about it.

Actually it kinda looks like one, but can't really tell from the outside.. I have those snail shell designs too.. doesn't really do anything since they're built to a specific sub.

No, hit me up on aim(PackerFn16) or msn(justins3422) and ill show you, this is a very complicated design, nothing compared to the snail shell. I have the snail shell designs too..along with many many others //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Did you buy a snail shell box from Power 4 Sound?

Something to do with a horn box design? Anyone wanna fill us in on how those work?
So some of the younger crew has finally come across and taken the time and precision needed to build the "folded horn enclosure", wicked isn't it. The folded horn and transmission line enclosure has been around for an ungodly long time but god knows they are hard as hell to build and get right, thus they never really gained any popularity. I think back around 1988 when Orion introduced the first XTR subs, they sent all their dealers box designs for the XTR using a transmission line enclosure to demo it with. The sound coming from this one 12 inch sub and box was unf...ing real for this time period.

Oh please don't anyone take offense to the "younger crew" remark, it's just that alot of us that were around back in the late 70's and through the 80's should remember these designs and how hard they were to build......so congrats to these guys... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

how hard are they to build? is that because of the cuts and angles?

before you can even began to build one of these boxes you need to understand the physics behind the design itself, and the mathmatics envolved. the angles and cuts come after the design has been established after using the t/s parameters of the driver has been plugged into the equation..and to be perfectly frank now a days I couldn't even began to try and build one because I been so far out of the loop on enclouser design. I will say that it is well worth the effort if it's done right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
