a girlfriend of mine that works in germany said that blaupunkt was going to go to next years CES 2005 with nothing new in terms of head units or changers. does a company trying to compete in today's car audio market do that and expect to live?

I own the Blaupunkt San Jose mp3 player and I see no reason to change anything.

I bought it for $125 off Ebay new and unopened.

Best Headunit for your buck in my opinion.

They need to change nothing.

Considering Blaupunkt gets most of their business making OEM stereo equipment, I don't think it matters. Plus, nothing really needs to be changed. Look at Pioneer they've come out with nothing new really...all they did is change the look of their head units to make them more flashy (there is a new model...the 8600 I believe, but for the most part there's nothing really new).

You can get a Blaupunkt Skyline Orlando for like $175+shipping. That is not bad for a super high end head unit. They are one of the only manufacturers that make something I can stand to look at in my car. And it sounds pretty good. Ain't no Alpine, but it's pretty good.

the new HU has an OEL display if i'm not mistaken, which IMO is a pretty big change. they also have some new handy features.

plus the new subs and speakers they came out with, i wouldn't say pioneer "didn't change anything."

Blaupunkt is a lot like alpine with OEM products, even if aftermarket dropped off they would still have more than enough money coming in.
