Sony or Alpine HU???

Well i have the alpine 9827 and im very pleased with it great sound, I had bought it from circuit city and i always check there reviews before buying. I don't know how reliable it is but that sony at circuit city got really bad reviews"http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?oid=90802&WT.mc_n=6&c=1&b=g&u=c&WT.mc_t=U" check it out i wish i had enough money to get the alpine hu your looking at i can only speak for the lower end one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Sony dosen't make that great of car audio proudcts... they are unreliable and sound like crap. I would get the Alpine, they make some great sounding HU's with a lot of nice features, and you can pretty much tweak it anyway you want it to get it to sound the way you want it to sound.

So we all can assume you don't even know what Sony head unit we're talking about here ...

But back to the original question ... try and play with both units and decide for yourself. No use in getting something you don't like. Honestly, I'd run both head units in my vehicle. Don't be fooled by Sony's lousy reputation when it comes to mobile electronics ... the cheaper items are lousy, but the 9900 is far from being some cheap piece of crap. Still a pretty decent head unit. The only problem I can find with the 9900/9905/8800/ is that the buttons and face seem just a touch on the flimsy side. Not really something I'd want in a ~$600 receiver.

I'd probably wind up taking the Alpine. But it's just my opinion.

Yes even though Sony has been stepping up a little and their HU's are getting better, I still think they are not that great of quality. I'm not into colored TFT displays that can show animated images and stuff. I would rather stick to what I know sounds good, is reliable and has features I want.

eclipse 8053...or 8443 if u want an internal amplifier. Either way, they are superior units in terms of quality. 8v pre-out @55ohm as opposed to 4v pre-out @300ohms...comparable features...oh well i love my 8053 that's why. peace

Hi,

Thanks for all your reply. I want a SPL deck so I am alittle stressed out on which to get. Sony looks better IMO but Alpine SQ is better....

LOL SPL DECK WITH A SONY!!!!!!! Sony decks = skip to SPL. And if you don't believe me its your lose. And by the way since you sound like a noob, there are no SPL or SQ decks!!!!!!!!!!

I am new so I ask, if you think you are wasting your time then reply to a more professional thread. Thanks for your polite reply!

i have never used the 9900 but i have had my m730 for almost 2 years and i love it. it has been through 2 wrecks and never givin me and problems. my only complaint really is that when it is flipped out, it ius a bit flemmsy, but its not a big deal and doesnt effect performance in any way. i have also had an alpine hu, both are good but my sony lasted longer.

it just stopped working after about 2 months and i sent it back to the factory and they didnt know what was wrong with it. i didnt feel like buying another one so i just got my money back and got the sony.
