I do not believe so, I do not remember for sure. The display was just fine at the level it came out of the box though. I generally don't use that feature at all regardless of what head unit it is. The ones that do not have a dimmer are normally as bright as ones with a dimmer on it's highest setting, which is what I set mine to anyway. Of all the things to worry about in a reciever, I would say that ranks among the bottom in importance.

even if that sony HU is a "specialty series". i would recommend to stay away from them, cuz of a bad reputation. Just be patient and for sure someone here will have a great HU for sale.

yea dude, the speciality series is actually pretty impressive, its not even made by sony, the new amps are series power for the money
