Walmart: Fail. and A+

Yep
So last night I went in to get my new 4wheeler tires mounted there. Drop them off at 3, go in to pick them up at 7:30 (Tire, Lube Express closed at 8).

So I come in, and i see the kid mounting them. Cool. They were busy when i dropped them off, hes just getting around to them, no big. I guess when i got there and walked in, he had already mounted 2/4 tires.

So im watching him mount the 3rd..on the machine, getting the tire around the rim..kid doesnt look like he knows what hes doing but manages to get it on there. Hits the air compressor, POOF, tire inflates. Tire #3 finished.

Last tire. One of my front tires. its on the rim, he lays it flat on the machine, and the machine spins. Im lookin at the rim laying flat turning..and my rim is all dented and effed up. He tries to get the bead lip on the rim..takes him about 3 times..and hes bashing a steel rod inbetween my rim and tire trying to get everything lined up. hits the air compressor, blows up, tire pops off..air escapes.

So i walk inside cuz this is making me mad. Manager guy calls my name, rings me up. $15 flat. Supposed to be $5/tire. So i walk out to the kid who did it. He asks me who i am, i say they are my tires so he asks me if the manager told me about the 4th tire. I say no, so he proceeds to bullshit me on why he cant mount the tire on the rim because it was somewhat flattened during shipping, which was true, and the air compressor doesnt have enough power to blow it up to seed against the rim. So i pretty much just look at him and say..so I have a 3 legged 4wheeler now? He shruggs his shoulder and i go get my truck.

Load them up, go home, i mount the 3 tires, all is cool. Then it hits me i didnt check the rim before i left. So i pull it out, rim is smashed to hell. I had an accident before and this rim was hit, but i beat it out with a big hammer and rim was better than brand new. But on both sides of the rim, the bead is completely bend over itself in a few places, some harsher than others. And the other side has like 5-7 dents in it of varying degrees.

I take it back to walmart, the "boss" tells me his tech came and got him and he saw it with his own eyes before he started trying to mount the tires saying the rim was like that. Lie #1. Which doesnt mean the tech didnt drop something on it for the 3 hours they were sitting there or try to mount the tire first before, eff it up, and take it back off and went to get the manager to get him to look at it "before he started working on it". So after 50 layers of bullshit and "oh no theres nothing here that could do something like that, it was like that before you brought it in" i left.

Go home, take the tire off the rim. Big gash in my tire, ripped one of the belts off that holds the bead to the rim. Cords everywhere, slashed completely across the inside of my tire. Nothing we have at home can do something like this. takes a large machine.

I get a call today, my dad went back and talked to an ACTUAL manager. The real manager heard the whole story and agreed fully it was wrong, and needed to be corrected. So i looked up a new front tire online, and they paid me in full.

---When i went in to talk to the real manager for myself, the supervisor from before saying he was the manager tried to bullshit me more and tell me the actual manager went home and etc. I assume hes in some pretty good trouble, along with the tech that effed up my shit.

So, Walmart..your technicians ****, but yall really do stand behind the 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. (when you talk to an ACTUAL manager..and not someone saying they are to keep people out of trouble)

i tried doin it myself at home, but after like 20 minutes of tryin to get the tire off the rim and everything my back problems were starting to hit me and it was worth the $20 in aggervation to have walmart do it.

but im mounting the 4th when it gets here

I'm getting two new front tires today or tomorrow. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
actually my dad used to work in the automotive department for walmart. he wasnt a tech, worked there stocking at night and whatnot.

people who would buy brand new tires there, drive on them a few days and come back saying they didnt like them, walmart would switch out the tires they bought (that had been run for a few days on their car) with a brand new different set the customer chose. a set of equal or one line HIGHER tire from any company. take the others off, mount, balance the new set. all free of charge.

ha. Not the first bad story from walmart. I know a guy who got his tires rotated at walmart. He drove out of the shop and took one left turn and the front right wheel flew right off the car. Busted the brakes and bunch of other suspension in his car. Guess the tech skipped the day of training on tightening lugnuts.

I learned to not get anything from WalMart. I used to work there and they treat their employees like shit.

*Edit*

Also, I will never have my oil changed there again. One day I marked the underside of my filter with a Sharpie, got my oil changed, and before I left I checked the filter, and they had not changed it. I got a manager and had them refund my money and do it correctly, while I watched.

I dislike walmart.
Immensely.
i dont knwo how to feel. im definately not going back to have any sort of work done. thats for sure. but i really do love the store.

i guess its better i learn this lesson about walmart on a set of tires, and not on a motor for my truck or anything like that.

although..id never trust any automotive work to be done by walmart in the first place..
